Kuopion Kendoseura Ry
Kendo – the way of the sword – is a fast-paced full-contact fencing sport with roots in traditional Japanese swordsmanship. The foundation of Japanese swordsmanship has been discipline, precision of movements, efficiency, and speed. These features are still present in modern kendo. Kendo is practiced with a sword made of bamboo slats, used to strike the protected target areas of the opponent.
Kendo practice began in Kuopio in 2002, and the club received its Japanese name Shō Ken Kai in 2003. The name was given by Makoto Yagisawa, a teacher sent by the Japanese Kendo Federation, who was visiting Finland at the time. Shō means flying or soaring, and Ken Kai means fencing school or club.
Today, the club operates actively with just over twenty members, and training sessions are held year-round up to five times a week.
Tietokettu was chosen as the service provider because their package fit well with the club's budget and needs. From the very beginning, the use of services has been smooth, and the transition from the old service provider to Tietokettu was particularly easy.
